Australia
Welcome back Formula 1!
I love Australia, maybe because it is the first race of the season, maybe it is because looking at sunny Melbourne warms up our wintery toes and puts us in a good mood or maybe it is because it reminds me of all of my family and friends who live there. Whatever the reason is, it is a great excuse to celebrate all that Australian cuisine has to offer and in particular Melbourne. Melbourne is regarded as the food capital of Australia and so I hope the recipes we have made over the years do it justice.
The Classics
Australia is renown for its Damper Bread, Sausage rolls, Aussies burgers and BBQ Prawns.
Desserts and Cakes
Pavlova is the perfect dish to round off any Australian meal however make sure there are no New Zealanders in the room whom might take offence, as they like to claim Pavlova as theirs. Other options include Lamingtons and Anzac biscuits.
For the Foodies
I have made a few of foodie recipes that would be perfect for an alfresco picnic; Raddichio, Bacon and Pear Salad as well as the colourful Honey Balsamic Glazed Beetroot Tarts, however my favourite remains Barbecued Lamb with Zucchini, Mint and Feta Salad. If you are looking for a delicious and simple brunch try the Potato Cakes with Smoked Salmon and Poached Eggs.
Whatever way you choose to celebrate the first race of the season, let’s hope it is a good one!
